The 10-Stage Premium Filter contains the premier, patented 10-Stage contaminant removing filter cartridge. It lasts 3 times as long as the common carbon block filters (1500 gal. vs. 500 gal.).
The 10-Stage Premium Filter removes contaminants by bonding the contaminants with the media inside the filter.
If any filter is not changed properly it will dump contaminants into the water at concentrations higher than the original tap water. If the filter warranty card is returned, New Wave Enviro Products will send reminder postcards when it is time to change cartridges.
The 10-Stage Premium Filter is priced reasonably compared to other major brands with comparable performance and longevity, at approx.
$130 versus $250-500 for other filters.
What does the 10-Stage Filter Remove?
The 10-Stage Premium Filter removes or greatly reduces the following: Chlorine; cancer-causing organic/chlorine compounds called Trihalomethanes (THM); bad odors, e.g., Hydrogen Sulfide, which gives water a rotten egg smell; pesticides; herbicides; PCB's; toxic heavy metals (i.e., Lead, Cadmium), Organic Arsenic, micro-organisms (protozoa and cysts) such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia; and dozens of other lesser known organic contaminants. What does the 10-Stage Filter Leave in the Water?

Lead: according to the Dept. of Health and Natural Services, lead is the number one environmental threat to children. Exposure causes delays on normal physical and mental development, attention deficits, hearing and learning disabilities and increased blood pressure in adults.
Lindane and Atrazine: "Pesticides and herbicides" with possible human carcinogenic effects and have been found to cause cancer in mammary glands in animals and to disrupt the hormonal and endocrine systems. Atrazine is under special review by the EPA.
Trihalomethanes: These are chemicals that are formed when Chlorine used in drinking water reacts with naturally occurring organic materials. More that Ten human studies have indicted that these chemicals are associated with rectal, bladder and pancreatic cancers. The current EPA standard allows a THM conc. of 0.1 mg/L, but the National Academy of Sciences has recommended that this be made more stringent.
Turbidity: An indication that there may be Cryptosporidium, a hard shelled cyst in the water. These can cause diarrhea and lead to a serious, even fatal, illness, requiring antibiotics to remove them from the body.
Giardia; Commonly found in springtime due to water run-off. These are hard-shelled cysts and cause the same problems as Cryptosporidium
